Located right in the heart of Killarney, a popular tourist destination, this 4-star hotel offers everything apart from great views. The rooms are attractively furnished — mine had a whirlpool, for example — and the public rooms are stylish, too. I particularly liked the golf theme that runs through the hotel’s décor. Among other features, there is a public lounge named after the exceptional Irish golfer Christy O’Connor, with an interior reminiscent of a traditional clubhouse. It’s perhaps a bit contrived, but then again, we’re in Killarney, and I can well imagine that the Americans, who are always well represented here, think it’s great. It certainly didn’t bother me. One real plus point, however: All the staff were extremely friendly, and the evening meal in the hotel restaurant was excellent.
