Peterhead Golf Club was founded in 1841, making it the 18th oldest golf club in the world. Its Craigewan Links began as a 9-hole course designed by two-time Open Champion Willie Park Jr. in 1892, before Archie Simpson extended it to 18 holes in 1908. A separate New Course, added in 1923, fell into disrepair during the Second World War and survives today as a 9-hole layout.
The course is placed in the Top100 of Scotland’s courses, and even if not all holes are great, some are really fantastic. I remember especially the 7th hole, a par 4 called «Valley» where you have to play your drive from a massive plateau down to a, you guessed it, valley. What else? I lost the match against my brother there.
