Designed by David McLay Kidd in 2008, the course was the first ever built on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) – which meant Kidd, who spent childhood summers on this very beach, wasn’t allowed to move any earth beyond the tees and greens: of 259 acres, only 7 were ever touched.
The course is a real godsend for the good people of Kintyre’s south end, making the area a perfect destination for traveling golfers. A fantastic place that more than justifies the long journey. What I want to say: Kidd did a great job. The place easily makes it into my personal Top Ten. I was there on a lousy cold November day. I will come back. When my hands are thawed.
