Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible
Jörg Bewersdorff, Switzerland. Email: joerg@fescueandgorse.com
This website is a private, non-commercial project. This notice explains which personal data is processed when you visit it. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
2. In short
I do not ask you for personal data. There are no user accounts, no contact forms, no comments, no newsletter and no advertising. The website does not use tracking cookies. Visits are counted with two tools that use no cookies and store no personal data (see section 4).
3. Hosting and server log files
The website is hosted by Cyon AG in Switzerland. Each time you open a page, the web server automatically records technical data in log files: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, the referring page, and information about your browser and device. This data is needed to deliver the website securely and reliably and to detect misuse. I do not combine it with other data and I do not use it to identify you. The hosting provider keeps the log files only as long as needed for these purposes.
4. Visitor statistics
To see how many people read which pages, this website uses Koko Analytics, a plugin that runs on the same server. It counts page views and referring websites in aggregated form. It does not store IP addresses or any other personal data, and it does not pass anything on to third parties.
In addition, this website uses Cabin, an analytics service operated by Nic Mulvaney Ltd (United Kingdom). Cabin uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. When you open a page, a small script sends the page address, the referring page, your screen width, the page load time, and how long you stayed and how far you scrolled to Cabin. Your IP address is used only to determine your country and is discarded immediately afterwards, according to Cabin. Cabin does not store unique visitor identifiers. The data is stored in aggregated form in Ireland. Details are in the privacy policy of Cabin.
5. Fonts
The fonts used on this website are served from the website’s own server. Your browser does not contact Google or other font providers.
6. Maps
Some trip pages show an interactive map. The map is displayed with Leaflet. The map images are loaded from the servers of OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom), and the Leaflet software is loaded from the unpkg.com content delivery network. When these resources are loaded, your browser sends your IP address and technical data to those servers. This only happens on pages that contain a map. Details are in the privacy policy of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
7. Links to other websites
This website links to the websites of clubs, hotels and other third parties. When you click such a link, the privacy policy of that website applies. I have no influence on how these websites handle your data. The footer also links to my Instagram account (instagram.com/beaverson). This website does not embed any Instagram content, so Instagram only receives data from you once you click the link. After that, Instagram’s own privacy policy applies. Instagram is operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.
8. Data outside Switzerland
Apart from the map services described in section 6 and the visitor statistics tool Cabin described in section 4, your data is not sent abroad. When you open a page, the Cabin script is loaded from Cabin servers through a content delivery network. Your request is received by a Cabin server close to you (in Sweden, Canada or South Korea) and passed on to Ireland. Your IP address is not stored.
9. Your rights
Under the FADP you can ask me whether I process data about you and which data it is. You can ask me to correct or delete it, and you can object to its processing. Because the log files are not linked to named persons, I can only find your data if you give me details such as your IP address and the time of your visit. Please write to me by email (joerg@fescueandgorse.com).
You can also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch.
10. Changes
I may update this notice, for example when the website changes. The current version is always the one on this page.
